The striker joined the Gunners from Sporting in July

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres was left out from Graham Potter's first Sweden team selection, while Reds forward Alexander Isak secured a place

Gyokeres is scheduled to undergo further medical tests this week amid worries of a thigh issue in the Gunners's Premier League victory at the Clarets on Saturday

The 27-year-old was absent from Arsenal' Champions League win versus Slavia Prague earlier this week

Alexander Isak Returns

The Liverpool striker, absent from action since 22 October due to a groin problem, was selected to play in World Cup qualifying games against Switzerland (15 November) plus the Slovenian side (November 18th)

Other Premier League Selections

  • Tottenham midfielder the young talent, who is recovering after a head knock
  • Newcastle wide player the Swedish international

Both athletes are among the Premier League players selected by ex- multiple English clubs coach Graham Potter

The New Manager's Appointment

The English manager took over the Swedish federation first temporarily on 20 October, less than a month following his departure from the Hammers

Previous coach Jon Dahl Tomasson lost his job following the national team's defeat to Kosovo on 13 October, an outcome that made direct progression in their World Cup group out of reach

Present Standing

Sweden are currently bottom in their qualifying group having only a single point in their opening four games

Even if they fail to claim the runner-up spot, there remains a chance they might be involved in the qualification playoffs because of their results in the most recent UEFA competition
