This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life free from concern.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “six seven” – originating from a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Each year, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
